If You Survive is a roleplay centred around the battle between Order members and Death Eaters. RP is rated mature with a strong focus on storytelling. Since we are timeline based, new players seldom feel lost.

Every ten days, plots are released in Team Operations. Based on participation, points are totaled to determine who is winning the war. You can earn points for your team by being active, completing writing prompts, submitting secrets, and playing games.

Plot

1979: Voldemort's dark reign on Muggles, Muggle-born wizards and the Ministry of Magic rages on without an end in sight. Every day Albus Dumbledore's Order of the Phoenix soldiers on in the dangerous war that's taken many lives. The sweeping terror has created mass paranoia throughout, since the identities of the Death Eaters are still largely unknown.

Tensions have risen within the Order as they are desperate to capture Death Eaters for prosecution. Alastor Moody has recently started to share information with younger members, knowing that Ministry efforts are no longer enough. Life at Hogwarts isn't any better for Dumbledore as rumors are spreading that students are being recruited by Death Eaters to join their side.

As loss of life numbers increase, Death Eaters feel ready to celebrate their victory over the Ministry. A day seldom passes without a terrorist attack just for "fun". Life is about to get worse for citizens as several Death Eaters have publicly declared their allegiance. In the background of the chaos, Voldemort prepares to infiltrate the Order to take them out for good.

General

When an application is received, the character will remain open for 3 days to allow time for others to apply. First come, first serve does not apply here.

Characters are reserved for 24 hours, but only off-anon. This does not guarantee your acceptance, but that the character you want will remain open until we have received your application.

Only your first submitted application will be read, so make sure it's your best work. Do not submit rewrites unless asked by an admin.

You must submit your URL within 48 hours of being accepted and must engage with fellow players within the following 24 hours.

You are only permitted to operate one account for one character.

No OOC Drama: Remember that people are not the characters they play. Under no circumstances should you be attacking someone personally. If you have a problem with another player, please report it. We have a zero-tolerance policy on bullying [x].

Keep OOC posts off your character's blog. We have an OOC dash for all unrelated messages.

Do not deactivate your account without informing the admins that you're leaving. It's very rude behavior to do so.

Character Specific

You may ask to change your FC in your application. We don't want too many FCs from the same show, movie and the actor should look correct in age. We reserve the right to deny FC changes. You cannot change your FC after posting your first para.

Stay true to your character's biography. If you would like to change something, please mention it in your application.

Characters cannot converse with or Godmod Dumbledore/Voldemort in paras.

Most Death Eater identities are unknown by Order Members. This is beneficial to maintain so characters can have conversations together that aren't only focused on dueling.

Backstories between Order members and Death Eaters are highly encouraged besides the ones that already exist: Lily and Snape, Sirius and Regulus, etc.

You don't have to be 'friends' with all of your team members, but it doesn't make sense for you have to more friends on the opposite team.

Neither team is 100% good or 100% evil, plots that blur between the two are highly encouraged while following your character's biography.

It is highly suggested that if your characters are going to 'duel' that you decide the outcome of it before you para.

You cannot kill or permanently disable another character.

Inactive/deactivated characters will not instantly be 'reopened', instead the RPers are permitted to act out the hysteria of their 'disappearance' since it fits the plot. Biographies will be adjusted when a character is reopened for grabs.

Engaging

You are required to para with someone new for each round.

Write all paras in third person, past tense.

You must interact with players once a week (owl, gif chat, mini-chats) and every 10 days, you'll be required to participate in a para round. Activity Requirements are explained here.

Ask and submit boxes must always remain on. Communication is key to a solid RP experience.

Do Not Godmod: Forcing another character to share the same space or plot with you. When it comes to hurting another character, it's suggested that you discuss these matters with the other player beforehand.

Cut your posts to just one or two replies.

Paras must include at least two paragraphs before posting.

Sexually explicit, self-harm and addiction related content must be posted under a 'Read More' link.

No pregnancies other than the ones mentioned in canon text.

Timeline

JANUARY 1: As the New Year's ball dropped at Midnight, a disaster struck Trafalgar Square in central London. Hundreds of Muggles were injured, fifty were killed outright. Alice fought alongside other Aurors at the scene. Emmeline investigated the scene after the bombing with Fabian and Gideon. Lily started a search for James and felt frustrated that no one else was concerned about his disappearance.

JANUARY 5: A severe blizzard storm allowed Death Eaters to attack trapped Muggles. Alice followed Lucius at the Ministry of Magic since he was acting suspicious, but she didn't learn anything new. In Diagon Alley, Emmeline did rounds of the shops to make sure they were protected. She met Amycus Carrow there who posed as a shopowner.

JANUARY 7: Emmeline visited a small village with Benjy to discover dead bodies and to help identify them, along with informing families. Lily accused Sirius of negligence in James’ disappearance.

JANUARY 9: James was captured and tortured by a group of Death Eaters. Alice and Remus traveled to recover Frank from the coast of England. Dorcas was poisoned by a Death Eater and could not reunite with the search party. Gideon did not continue on the mission, opting to take care of her. Evan stole a brain from the Department of Mysteries and faked being under an Imperius curse to avoid Emmeline's suspicion.

JANUARY 13: Evan and Travers approached werewolves to join their side of the war, but they were unsuccessful. Fabian and Benjy also attempted a treaty with werewolves. Narcissa saved Andromeda from a Death Eater attack. Emmeline grows suspicious of Barty Crouch Jr. after a run-in in Knockturn Alley. Emmeline and Marlene were sent on a mission to talk to goblins. Later that evening, Narcissa killed Muggles at random in London and Barty witnessed the chaos.

JANUARY 15: Evan Rosier substituted DADA at Hogwarts for a week. He made contact with Regulus and Barty on campus. Lily, also a substitute at the same time, felt confused and mystified about her own run-in with Evan. Emmeline dueled with Travers on the Hogwarts Express. Narcissa visited Amelia to discuss the Ministry's raids for Dark artifacts.

JANUARY 17: Bellatrix and Lucius bombed the Princes Street Gardens in Scotland, over 500 people were reported dead. Sirius, Remus, Fabian and Dorcas were sent to identity corpses. At the scene, Alice dueled Evan. He escaped with a wounded leg before she could capture him. He returned to his post at Hogwarts after the duel. Still at Hogwarts, Lily tried to get through to Barty, and they had a conversation which roused her suspicions as to his involvement with the Death Eaters. While patrolling the school at night, she and Benjy discovered a girl in the dungeons under a heavy spell via a cursed object. The cause and culprit of the incident were never uncovered. Meanwhile in England, Death Eaters attempted to kidnap children of Ministry members. Emmeline and Amelia dealt with a dark magic object at the Ministry. Mulciber attempted to intoxicate Emmeline to get information on her loyalties, but he failed.

JANUARY 19: Fabian and Emmeline attended an Order meeting to discuss Death Eater suspects, but nothing was confirmed. Back at Hogwarts, Evan lost his leg due to his injury from the previous duel with Alice. He continued the ruse of being a perfect citizen by talking with Hestia Jones and monitoring students with Benjy Fenwick. Also on campus, Regulus sought Sirius out to shake him up.

JANUARY 21: Rodolphus performed the Imperius spell on James. James vandalized parts of London and landed in jail for his crimes. Lily and Remus discussed James’ erratic behavior and began to suspect that he was under a spell. By the end of the day, Sirius and Emmeline bailed James out after not being able to locate The Potters. Amycus tortured and imperio’d Barty Crouch Senior in front of Junior. Barty Jr did nothing to stop Amycus. At the Ministry of Magic, Evan and Narcissa broke into an office to retrieve data on suspected Death Eaters. On the Hogwarts campus, Dorcas and Caradoc taught dueling lessons at Dumbledore's request.

JANUARY 30: 23 Half-Blood babies went missing from St. Mungo's and Lily wrote a story for The Daily Prophet about it. She interviewed Ted at the scene. Fabian investigated high-end restaurants in London, and discovered that the staff of Mana Majique was poisoning the food. Alice served as the Muggle Prime Minister’s bodyguard and dueled with an unknown man. She assumed he was a Death Eater, even if she didn’t recognize him. No average wizard would be interested in breaking into Muggle Minister’s house. The Carrows attempted to kill the minister but were aprehended by Dorcas. Dorcas severely injured Amycus in the duel. Evan dueled and wounded Caradoc. Evan completed the mission to kill the Muggle Prime Minister. At Hogwarts, Alecto visited Regulus; they shot the Dark Mark in the sky and injured students.

FEBRUARY 7: An increase in citizens being disfigured to prevent identification was reported in The Daily Prophet. Under a disguise, Evan attempted to make Avery confess that he was a Death Eater. At a rock concert, Dorcas ran into Regulus and his suspicious ideologies surfaced.

FEBRUARY 14: Alice, Andromeda, Fabian, Frank and Sirius were ordered to be assassinated at the Nott's Valentine's Ball. Barty overheard that Sirius was on Voldemort's hit-list and attempted to Avada Kedavra him, but ultimately failed. Sirius was injured from the attack. Alice lost a duel to Rodolphus, but he manipulated her memory in the aftermath. Ted, instead of Andromeda, was attacked by Rabastan at the ball. Lily had an unpleasant conversation with Severus at the ball, which left her conflicted. Afterwards, Lily was approached by Narcissa, who threatened her at wand point. In retaliation, Lily wrote a scathing article which resulted in extremely negative responses and further threats from anonymous readers. Amycus attempted to kill Fabian after the ball. Meanwhile, Evan and Severus wrecked Emmeline's flat, complete with threats written in blood and an infestation of Bundimun. Evan shot the Dark Mark in the sky before leaving the scene. Ted healed the scars on Caradoc's forehead from his earlier duel.

FEBRUARY 21: Alice went to the Dark Forrest to negotiate with the Centaurs living there. She made sure they would not join Voldemort's ranks. James invited Emmeline over for lunch to resolve their tension as Order comrades. James' attempt was unsuccessful and ended in Emmeline storming out. Lily and Severus inadvertently met at a pub, where Severus’ consumption of Special 77 resulted in an honest conversation between the former friends, which further intensified her suspicions of his Death Eater associations. After a fight with James, Lily agreed to stop writing incendiary articles for The Prophet to ensure her safety. Being James’ superior, Alice and James reported to Hogsmeade as Aurors to deal with the hostage crisis. The auror trainees were permitted to come up with a solution, once it was concluded that Voldemort was not involved. James’ idea was put into action, and the afternoon was solved without violence. After talk of a mole in the Order, Sirius accused Caradoc of being a spy for the Death Eaters. In the evening, Remus was abducted and extensively tortured by Bellatrix, as a payment to Lily for her article on the Nott's ball. Remus was later delivered in a critical state to the Potter's doorstep. Caradoc was kidnapped and tortured by Alecto, as a suspected Order member, in an abandoned Muggle home. Caradoc managed to steal her wand and escape, but did not find out her identity. Lucius returned to Malfoy Manor near midnight. It was his first appearance at home since bombing the Princes Street Gardens with Bellatrix in January.

FEBRUARY 24: In the morning at the Ministry, Lucius was assigned to inspect wands for uses of Dark magic. He used the opportunity to detour suspicions from fellow Death Eaters. Dorcas and Sirius examined their wands for improper use while catching up. Dorcas relayed her suspicions regarding Regulus being a Death Eater. Back at the Potter flat, James explained to Peter some of the charms that protect Lily and his residence; which in turn gave him the information that he needed at Voldemort's request. Lily questioned Peter's recent distance from their group. She was concerned but mollified by his explanations. Lily visited Marlene at her apartment and they caught up after not seeing each other for so long due to Marlene’s mission. Later that day, Emmeline and Lily relocated a wizard family to a safe house in Swiss Alps. James and Lily also decided to donate one of the Potter vacations to the Order to be used as a safe house. In support of everyone, Fabian and Andromeda converted the Prewett family home into a safe house. Severus visited a Potions shop in Diagon Alley to learn about the incoming Wolfsbane from Bulgaria. But Fabian distracted him long enough to prevent him from achieving the objective. At approximately 3 p.m., Evan bombed the Potions District, causing mass casualties and midterm consequences. Bellatrix disrupted a delivery of wolfsbane, and duelled Caradoc Dearborn. In critical condition from the duel, Caradoc showed up at the Tonks residence for healing. James continued to care for Remus since he was still recovering from facing Bellatrix on the 21st. Meanwhile, Marlene teamed up with Ted to solve the mystery of the “tampered” wands. Rodolphus was the culprit, but evidence linking back to him was not clear. In the Hogwarts area, Bellatrix interrogated Barty and discovered his intent to become a Death Eater by attempting a kill on Sirius. Narcissa saw Regulus' summoned by The Dark Lord for the first time. Regulus made sure she would notice, no longer wanting to keep up the charade about being 'just' a student.

FEBRUARY 26: In the morning, Lucius discovered via Narcissa that Regulus had pledged to the cause. At Hogwarts, Regulus was interviewed by Lily about students smuggling potions. He knew who the guilty were, but he revealed nothing to her. Lily became increasingly concerned about the number of students, who appeared to be involved with Voldemort. Following Evan's previous high-scale terrorist attack on the Potions District, Evan volunteered at St Mungo’s hospital to lay low and located Remus amongst the patients. Marlene visited James to inform him that his cousin Charlus died in the Potions District fallout. They grieved and comforted each other. Marlene could relate after her brother's death last year. Caradoc and James struggled to get along enough to brew Potions for those in desperate need. Helping out as Dumbledore ordered, James and Sirius prepared food for a family in need. Lucius met with Barty to breach Senior Crouch's inner circle, but he learned nothing useful and punished the young man as a result. Acting on a request of Amycus’s, Severus began experimenting with a Potion that would allow Inferi to be fire-resistant. However, the first batch of the solution was unsuccessful and Severus will need more time to accomplish the goal. On a mission at Azkaban, Lily was confronted by Bellatrix, who accused her of being an Order member and denied responsibility in Remus' attack. Bellatrix cut Lily’s arm in an attempt to draw blood and use her as bait with the Dementors. Lily managed to escape unscathed, although she was shaken and hid her wound. James' own encounter with a dementor rendered him unconscious and he vowed to never return to the prison again.
